E!'s New Reality Show, Botched

Image: monstersandcrtics.com

The reality show addict in me is a big fan of transformation shows like Restaurant Impossible, Extreme Weight Loss, How Do I Look, etc. So it was no surprise that this new one on E! caught my attention.

The whole premise of the show is to help correct plastic surgery gone wrong. Many of the individuals received horrible nose jobs, butt lifts, breast implants, etc. Many of whom say they went to well-known board-certified surgeons. I find this to be a bit unsettling because in the grand scheme of things, who can you really trust?

The surgeons working the scalpels are Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow (some may remember Nassif as the former husband to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Adrienne Maloof). Now, one thing that stands out is they don't just accept any patient. The surgery can't be risky and you can't have any existing psychological disorders, like the woman on last night’s episode. She wants to correct a butt implant surgery but suffers from Body Dysmorphic Disorder .The doctors said they won't operate on her until she seeks help, which I think is great. Also, it's not just narcissistic patients but people like the woman on last night’s episode who wanted to correct her broken nose after having 4 unsuccessful surgeries.

The show is a little on the graphic side so if you can stomach it, catch all new episodes on Tuesday nights at 9/8c on E!.

BET Awards 2014 Recap

I usually don't watch the BET Awards, but decided, what the hell. Kandi's Wedding was on hiatus until next weekend so my 8pm time slot was open. First of all, I have to say, what a show! It definitely had some ups and downs, but overall, was an ok show. Let's recap a few of those moments:

The Host
Image: bet.com

Chris Rock - Honestly, his jokes were not that funny to me. I mean he had a few punch lines here and there, especially when he said Paris Hilton was getting her Kim Kardashian on for the night, but overall, it was a hot mess. He was probably nervous or something.

Keke Palmer - Her dress was confirmation that she is no longer True Jackson VP. It was an interesting Alon Livne number with cut outs on the sides of her hips and down her bust. But anyway, she was the host for the social media tracker. At one point, the tweets reached up to 8 million.

Busta Rhymes - Now, this man right here, was dressed as if it was 1990. He had on some colorful jacket that people compared to The Cheesecake Factory bag and Dance Dance Revolution. I mean, I credit Busta for doing him, but man, this Zebra Stripe Gum number won’t be laid to rest for a while.
Performances

Pharrel Williams - The show opened up with a school girl on roller skate type theme to, "Come Get It Bae." Half way through, our favorite female rapper, Missy Elliot, popped up with a remix/collaboration of "Pass That Dutch." It’s been quite a while since we’ve all seen Missy. Hopefully, she’s here to stay.

Nicki Minaj - Now, this performance was quite interesting. At first, the girl started rapping on the back of a motorcycle which then turned into an Alice in Wonderland set for "Pills and Potion." She came busting out of the top of a mushroom complete with a bunny rabbit (people on twitter were like, I bet you Drake is hiding up in there), a ballerina and a guitarist dressed like Mad Hatter. Kind of weird, but it works for her. Also, let's not forget her acceptance speech for her fifth BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. She was throwing a good amount of shade to some other rapper (people are saying Iggy Azalea), stating she is a true artist who writes all her rhymes.

Usher - This was the best performance of the night, hands down (he did get a little bit of slack for coming out in this Cotton Eyed Joe raccoon hat). He did a compilation of hits from "You Remind Me" to "Confessions", all leading up to his latest single, "Good Kisser."

Lionel Richie - He was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Some of his greatest hits were performed by John Legend, Ledisi and Yolanda Adams. After accepting this award, he hopped on the piano and finished it off with "Easy Like Sunday Morning" and my all-time favorite, "All Night Long."

Shia LeBeouf, Escorted Out of Broadway Show

Image: huffingtonpost.com

I actually find this very weird. Out of all the days in the year, Shia LeBeouf gets into trouble before the day Transformers hits movie theaters! According to reports, he was at the Broadway musical Caberet being disorderly and yelling. They escorted him out during intermission and when NYPD showed up, he started threatening them! LeBeouf was booked overnight, charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass and released this morning. I wonder what triggered him to go off during the show? I'm sure we'll hear something soon!

Maya Angelou, Dies at 86

Two weeks ago, I came across this Maya Angelou interview on Oprah's YouTube channel. This put a lot of things in perspective for me. When you are faced with opposition, you have to stop and say thank you because there is something greater in store for you. With that said, thank you Maya Angelou for your countless words of inspiration that has and will continue to uplift all walks of life.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/2013/02/beyonce_super_bowl_outfit.jpg
Well folks....there you have it! Songstress Beyonce once again made her presence but this time left a lasting impression.
Mrs. Carter performed a compilation of hits such as "End of Time," "Baby Boy" and everyone's favorite "Single Ladies" during this years Super Bowl halftime show at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. She also surprised us with an appearance from Destiny's Child.

Then, as a couple minutes rolled into the 3rd quarter parts of the stadium went dark. People are saying since her performance required so much power, it created the outage. After approximately 34 minutes, power was restored.

Kris Jenner to Have Talk Show

http://assets.thehollywoodgossip.com/photos/full/kris-jenner-in-purple.jpgOur Kardashian TV mommy Kris Jenner is set to come out with her own TV talk show this summer. It will test run for six weeks on Fox owned stations in select markets. As with many talk shows, this one will have celebrity interviews, talks about fashion and beauty, and a host of other things. When a new show comes out I always like to see the first episode, just to get a feel for what is going on. After that, I decide if it’s a staple in my line up or not. Will you tune in?

Chris Brown and Frank Ocean Brawl??

Supposedly, this past Sunday R&B artists Chris Brown and Frank Ocean got into a physical altercation over a parking space. In a tweet Ocean explains, "cut my finger now I can't play w(ith) two hands at the grammys." Information on what exactly happened is still circulating. And yes, Brown is still on probation for assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. So if this in fact is true, Brown will have a bit of explaining to do!

Nicki Minaj on American Idol: Love It or Hate It?

I'm not really a fan of the singing competition shows but I had to tune in to the premiere of American Idol: Season 12 this past Wednesday. The media really blew up the supposed feud between songstress Mariah Carey and Young Money's own Nicki Minaj. From what I watched, they have squabbles here and there. I think when Carey discusses her experience in the business Minaj maybe gets tired of hearing it over and over again? Not sure, but it's really nothing crazy. And also, I came across an article about the fans. A lot of people refuse to tune in because Minaj is a judge. They say her flamboyant hair and outfits take away from the contestants. What do you think?

Justin Timberlake Makes a Come Back

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/thumbnail_570x321/2013/01/justin_timberlake_jay_z_suit_tie_l.jpg
After being away for quite some time, our singing heartthrob is back on the scene! Earlier this week, Justin Timberlake released his new single "Suit and Tie, FT Jay-Z," off his anticipated new album The 20/20 Experience. When you sit and think about it, Timberlake hasn't released a song since his 2006 album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. I still have that album on rotation in my playlist and can't wait to add this new one. On his website, he posted an "open letter to the fans" stating his rekindled interest in music and that 2013 is going to be a big year.

Lance Armstrong to Appear on OWN Tonight

Oprah Interviews Lance Armstrong
For the last couple of weeks, this interview special has been all over the media. World renowned cyclist Lance Armstrong is allegedly going to come clean about his drug use allegations in a one-on-one two part interview with Oprah Winfrey. From what I've read so far, many of his colleagues are saying this is something that needs to be addressed. He has been stripped of many accolades including a bronze medal won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Do you believe Armstrong owes the nation an explanation and apology? Tune in tonight at 9pm ET for the first part of this 90 minute special.

Viola Davis @ The Oscars

Did you see how gorgeous Viola Davis looked at the Oscars last night? I love the color and look of her natural hair!! I didn't know use to wear wigs (thought they were regular extensions). She spoke about her choice of hairstyles briefly on Oprah's Oscar special featuring her, Octavia Spencer & Jonah Hill. But anyway, when I saw her on the red carpet yesterday I immediately said WOW. Her gorgeous emerald green Vera Wang dress was offset by her warm cinnamon brown hair. Just loved it!

RIP Heavy D

On Monday after the verdict was read for the Michael Jackson trial , I drove home blasting one of my favorite songs, Jam. Then yesterday I heard that Heavy D passed away. He was an inspiration to many in the hip hop industry. We Found Love is my favorite song by Heavy D & the Boyz. Check out the video below. May he rest in peace.

Check out the video for Common's new single 'Blue Sky'. He's set to release his album The Dreamer, The Believer on Dec 20th. I love Common because his music speaks volumes. Just listen to the lyrics and you'll see what I mean.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Special: Before They Were Stars

Last night I was set to hit the sack early after watching "Millionaire Matchmaker" and on pops a special called "The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Before They Were Stars". Bravo profiled 4 of the ladies from the show to discuss what their lives were like before they hit stardom.  They discussed the happy times and not so good times of Cynthia, Nene, Kandi and Kim. I thought it was good except they left out something I wanted to know about. What happened to Kim that caused her to start wearing wigs? I guess it still remains a mystery.... Anywho, overall I thought it was good. Check out the clip after the jump.

Kim Kardashian.....Divorce??

Yea I know it comes as no surprise to most people. Honestly, I love Kim K! She has great style and represents for us curvy big booty women out there! But this whole divorce thing that's going on now is ridiculous. She just got married less than 3 months ago and is already filing for divorce?? This makes me draw a conclusion: marriage must be a joke. Making this promise in front of God obviously means nothing to her. From what I understand (I'm not married so I could be wrong) marriage isn't 100% peachy. It's about working to join two lives together to become one. You don't just file for divorce when things don't work out "in the beginning." I can understand if you put in 2 years of trying to reconcile your differences. What do you think?

ESSENCE November 2011 Issue: Idris Elba

Its been a crazzzzy week so I haven't had the opportunity to post at all. I finally had the chance to read the Idris Elba article in the November issue of Essence magazine. I have to say this man is handsome, a fighter and such an inspiration to many African Americans. In this article, he touched on how racism plays a part in England.

Rihanna "We Found Love"

After being teased with images of this video, it was finally released yesterday. I really like it because it's kind of a twist. After initially hearing the song on the radio I thought the video would be your typical techno-y club setting but I was wrong. In this one, Rihanna depicts a relationship that has constant highs and lows. It gives us viewers the opportunity to really connect with her since so many people are battling this today. So kudos to Rihanna for reaching out to her audience! Check it out below...

The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Season 4 To Air Soon!

I just watched a clip of the new season and it looks like it's going to be a good one! The cast is in full force after hearing rumors that Nene Leakes wasn't coming back. In the preview their seems to be some tension between Nene & Sheree. But then again what 2 ladies don't fight on this show! Watch the clip below to see the goodness that airs on Sunday Nov 6!
