A Look Back at the King of Pop
Today marks the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. Unfortunately, his family, friends, and fans are still mourning as the legal system tries to determine what actually happened the morning he died. I turned on CNN this morning to hear that Dr. Conrad Murray is now telling a different story. He said that he never administered the lethal dose of propofol, Michael Jackson did himself. What ever the case may be justice will soon be addressed. And instead of wallowing in the pain, take a moment to look back at his career and how his words of inspiration lifted so many people. From The Wiz to You Wanna Be Startin’ Something, Michael Jackson will forever be known as a man that just wanted people to love one another. Watch one of my favorite songs by MJ above, Leave Me Alone.

Documentary - Drake: Better Than Good Enough
This was definitely a good documentary. From beginning to end you got the chance to see Drake's career unfold up to the release of his new album, Thank Me Later. I must say, from watching the documentary last night he is really humble and laid back. Something you can't say about most rappers in the game today. And yes he may just be starting out and yes he's going to be humble "now". But what about other artist such as Soulja Boy and Lil Boosie? Or does Drake not compare to them because his style is different? But newho...he also expressed his soft side. He mentioned that he doesn't know what he would do if say his producer or mother were to be gone one day because they fuel much of his career. If you didn't get a chance to see it, watch a clip of the documentary above courtesy of MTV.

Loving yourself
We come in all shapes and sizes. Tall, short, skinny, fat, round, flat, etc...
I was reading the July 2010 issue of Essence magazine and Jada Pinkett Smith was on the cover dressed in nothing but her skin. In the article that was written about her, she mentioned how we need to embrace ourselves and not care what others may think of us. After, I read this I sat and reflected on what she was talking about and it's so true. Here in America we live in a society where we are constantly judged by the way that we look. So many people are worried about making sure their appearance is acceptable in other people's eyes. When all that should matter is learning how to accept yourself. And I mean, to be honest, I at times look at other females and say what if I had longer hair like her or what if I were a couple inches taller. But then I realize that God made us all differently in his own image. So, why worry about what they have that I don't have?

Lauryn Hill + Best R&B Album
I was reading an article on MtvNews.com this morning about how they believe Drake's new album will rise to the top in sales. Within the article they started to list some of R&B/Hip-Hop's best selling albums of all time. One that caught my interest in particular was The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. I have to say this is one of the best albums ever put together by far. The album came out when I was in middle school and I remember listening to "Everything is Everything" and realizing that you can not control destiny because what is meant to be will be.
